About this pattern

The phases of the moon as a row of seven sampler motifs set in an arc: a crescent, a half and a gibbous moon rising to the full moon at the top, then gibbous, half and crescent again down the other side. Each moon is a whole round nine stitches across, its lit part white and its dark part deep blue, and one gold five-point star stands under the full moon. Flat color with no outline, and the left side mirrors the right exactly. The white thread needs natural linen or another cloth darker than white. Full crosses only. It is 75 by 20 stitches and uses three thread colors.

75 stitches wide by 20 high: 516 full cross stitches in 3 DMC colors (Winter White 3865, Very Dark Antique Blue 3750, Very Dark Old Gold 3829).
