Chart
The fabric color is for the screen only.
Lettering
Drag the outline on the chart to where the words belong, then press Place lettering. Capitals, numbers, & - . , : ' ! ? / and a heart (type <3); Enter starts a new row. Stitched in your selected thread.
Canvas size
Every stitch is kept. Crop leaves two blank squares around the design. Undo is available.
Flip, turn and move
With the Select tool, drag a box round some stitches, then drag inside the box to move them. Mirror and Turn work on the box, or on the whole chart when there is no box. Undo is available.
Supplies for this chart
Keep or share this chart
A chart file holds this chart so it can be opened in another browser or on another device: saved charts and drafts are tied to this browser. Open it from the start screen under New chart. Pictures are PNG files for showing the design; stitch from the PDF.
Stitch along
Tap a stitch to mark it; drag to move the chart, and use two fingers to zoom. With a mouse, drag across stitches to mark them. Block marks the 10 × 10 block under the last stitch you touched. Press a thread to see only that thread. Progress saves itself as you go. Blank squares are skipped.
Help and keys
Keys on the chart: arrows move the square (Shift moves ten), Home and End go to the ends of the row, Space uses the tool, Escape cancels a stroke. B draws, E erases, F fills, L is a line, R a box, I picks a thread, S selects, T is lettering, H moves the chart. Ctrl or Cmd+Z undoes, with Shift it redoes. In Stitch along, M marks a block and Ctrl or Cmd+Z takes the last mark back.
On a touch screen one finger uses the tool and two fingers move and zoom the chart. Fit shows the whole design; press it again for the whole canvas.

How the pattern maker works
Choose a size, then draw: one square is one cross stitch. Draw, erase and fill with a finger or the mouse; two fingers move and zoom the chart and never leave a stitch. Line and Box drag out straight shapes, Select moves a group of stitches, and Text sets words in a block alphabet that you drag into place.
Threads
Pick threads from 388 DMC numbers, searched by number or by color name. The colors you see are approximate screen matches, so check real thread before you buy.
Keeping your chart
A chart you are drawing is a draft: it is kept in this browser and comes back when you return. Save it to stitch along and mark your progress. Drafts and saved charts belong to this one browser; there are no accounts. To move a chart to another device, download its chart file and open it there.
Printing
Download PDF gives a paged chart with symbols, a thread key and the fabric size to cut.
