Art and painting needlepoint patterns

A painter's palette with brushes in several styles, and the Starry Night after Van Gogh in two: swirls, stars and a moon over a village.

The palette is flat, not mirrored, with its dabs of paint. In all but the blue and white design, where the palette is white, it is wooden and each dab of paint is its own color, so the thread list can be long for a small piece: sort the colors first and work the dabs before the wood. In the Starry Night a tall dark green cypress stands at the left of a blue sky of swirls, yellow stars and a yellow moon with an orange crescent, over a navy village; the classic design sets the scene on cream inside a thin gold line, and the whimsical one makes it a round on periwinkle inside a yellow border of squares. Count the cypress first, then the moon and stars, and fit the swirls between them. All are on a four-inch square for 18 mesh, and the palettes can also be made round.
