Woodpeckers needlepoint patterns

A woodpecker clinging upright to the side of a tree trunk, in profile: the bird grips the bark with its feet and props itself on its stiff tail.

It is drawn in several styles; the folk art one has a pair, one on each side of the trunk. All are four inches square on 18 mesh. The trunk is a vertical band, at one side in most, so count it first and set the bird against it; levels run from beginner to advanced.
