Apples needlepoint patterns

Apples whole and eaten, among them an upright apple with its stalk and an apple core with two seeds showing, each in several styles.

The whole apple is a round fruit a little wider at the shoulders than at the base, with a dimple at the top where the stalk goes in, and is close to mirrored. The core stands upright, with red skin left at the top and bottom, a pale yellow bitten middle and two dark brown seeds; its bitten sides are not quite a mirror, so count each from the chart. All are four inches square on 18 mesh, and most can be made as a round ornament; some also as an eight-inch mini pillow on 13 mesh. Many are marked beginner.
