Bargello medallions needlepoint patterns

Bargello medallions come from mirroring a line of upright stitches, so the peaks and valleys close into diamonds, ogees, lanterns and pomegranates.

The line is mirrored top to bottom. All are on a five-inch square for 18 mesh. Stitch the first row from the center, counting each step from the chart, and check it before you go further: every row depends on it. Most repeat across the canvas and come in several sets of colors.
