Four-way bargello needlepoint patterns

Four-way bargello divides the canvas into four triangles along the diagonals and works the same line in each.

Flames and waves then turn at every diagonal and make a star, a diamond or a flower. These come as four-inch coasters and a five-inch insert on 18 mesh, and as ten and twelve-inch pillows on 13 mesh. Start at the center and count outward. Upright stitches cover less than tent stitch, so test your thread for cover before you begin.
