Yarn and wool: a ball of yarn with a hook or needles, a spinning wheel seen from the side, and crochet squares with their hook.
The ball of yarn and the spinning wheel are drawn in several styles and the crochet in two, all on a four-inch square for 18 mesh. The ball is drawn as a true circle. In four designs a rod is pushed through it on a slant, a crochet hook in three and a teal needle with a dark point in the whimsical one; the folk art ball lies over two crossed knitting needles. The spinning wheel has a big spoked wheel and a tuft of white wool on a post. The crochet is one square in rings of color with the hook at its corner and yarn trailing to a ball, or three overlapping squares beside a ball with the hook pushed into it. The strands on the ball are slanted and curved lines counted in steps, so follow them one at a time; the rings of a crochet square are straight, so count the outer ring and work inward. Levels start at beginner; each page gives its level and its thread list.
