Preppy needlepoint patterns

Most preppy designs here show one tidy object, or sometimes a small group, in flat color, with no outline and almost no shading.

Everyday objects, tools, instruments, vehicles, plants and symbols are drawn this way, as are animals, flowers, birds, dogs, houses and Christmas things, all on a four-inch square for 18 mesh. In flat areas of one color the stitches themselves are what you see, so it matters how you work them. Basketweave and continental are two ways of working tent stitch, the plain diagonal stitch: basketweave is the one for filling areas and the most likely to keep a small piece square; continental does for single lines.
