Blackwork hand embroidery patterns

Blackwork to embroider: shapes filled with a small repeat of straight back stitches, every pattern in one navy thread.

There are a square frame of diamonds, a wreath of twelve squares, a six-point star in a hexagon, a rosette of lozenges and squares, a snowflake of diamonds, an eight-point star on a square tile, a stepped diamond, an eight-point star in an octagon and a medallion of sixteen wedges round an eight-point star. The outlines are stem stitch, and every pattern has French knots as well.
