Rooster needlepoint patterns

A rooster standing in profile: a comb and wattle, a short beak, a proud chest and a tail of curving feathers that arc up and back.

It is drawn in several styles, and one of the folk art designs shows a pair face to face. Most are four inches square on 18 mesh. The tail feathers and the two legs are narrow shapes, so count them first and fill the ground after. The rooster of Barcelos, black with a red heart on its side and its tail in one broad curl, is here in two styles. Each page gives its level and the colors it takes.
