One daffodil bloom is seen face on, six pointed petals round a cup. The three petals in front are yellow and point up, down to the left and down to the right; the three petals behind are gold and show between them. The petals are long and short stitch, and each has a center vein of back stitch, gold on the petals in front and yellow on the petals behind. The frilled rim of the cup is orange satin stitch, and the throat of the cup inside it is gold long and short stitch, with seven cream French knots for the stamens.

- In a 3 inch hoop the French knots are drawn smaller than about 2 mm (a little over 1/16 in). Use one strand of floss for them there, or choose a larger hoop.
The pattern is drawn inside a circle about half an inch (1.3 cm) smaller all around than the hoop.
