Fan of thirteen rays: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 6 KB

A fan of thirteen rays stands over a half round of arcs and bands. The rays are pointed and worked in satin stitch, set at equal steps on the outermost arc: seven long rays in gold and six short rays in teal, by turns. Inside the arc lie a teal outer band and a gold inner band, both satin stitch, round a teal satin stitch center of the fan in the shape of a half disc. The arcs between them are navy stem stitch. The fan stands on a foot of three navy satin stitch bars that step in, the top one the widest.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: short satin stitches, no shading; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
