Stepped bar corner: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 5 KB

A corner ornament has one half the mirror image of the other across the diagonal. A navy bar along the edges turns the corner in a miter. In its angle a square stands on its point: the outer band of the square is gold, the inner band teal, and the center of the square navy, worked in four parts. Beside the square three more bars run along each edge, each shorter than the one outside it, like steps: the first and third bars are teal and the second bars gold. Every part is satin stitch. The corner suits a napkin or a handkerchief.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
