Snowman needlepoint patterns

Snowmen with orange carrot noses, among them a snowman in five styles, a snow lady in a hat and shawl, and a snowman whose nose a hare is nibbling.

The snowman is built of three balls of snow, standing and facing front. In most, a scarf keeps its left and right sides from matching. Its five styles run from flat color to shaded. The classic snow lady wears a red hat with a green band and a white flower, and a green shawl, and a gold handbag hangs from one brown twig arm, on dark purple inside a thin white line. In the classic snowman and hare, seen close, a light brown hare stands on its hind legs and nibbles the nose of a snowman in a black top hat and a dark green and white striped scarf, with white snowflakes on pale aqua; blue-gray shading along the snowman's edge keeps it apart from that pale ground. All are four inches square on 18 mesh, and most can also be made as a round ornament. White on a pale ground can disappear unless it is edged, as the snowman with the hare is, so choose a background with enough contrast before you buy thread.
