Baby footprints in a heart: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 38 KB

A pair of baby footprints sits inside a heart: the two feet stand heels together with their toes turned out, each a sole with a small heart on it and five toes in a row above it. The heart round them has a ribbon bow tied in its cleft, the two ends of the bow hanging inside, and a frill of thirty-eight scallops all the way round. The heart, its frill and the soles are stem stitch and the toes, the small hearts and the ribbon of the bow are satin stitch.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: stem stitch, with some short satin stitches; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
