Six-pointed star quilt: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 11 KB

A six-pointed star quilt is worked in five rings of color, with no stitched seams: six large diamond points meet in the middle, each pieced of nine small diamonds, three by three, fifty-four in all, with a hairline of bare cloth between them. Every diamond is filled with satin stitch, each ring in a thread of its own from yellow at the middle through three blues to navy at the tips. The star stands alone on clear cloth, and round it, well beyond its tips, runs a wreath: a ring of stem stitch with six gold woven wheel roses on it, one beyond each notch of the star, and from rose to rose four pairs of broad fishbone stitch leaves, the outer leaves in one green and the inner in another.

Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
