Hot air balloon needlepoint patterns

A hot air balloon, upright: a large envelope shaped like an upside-down teardrop, divided into gores, curved bands from top to bottom, in most.

The balloon is mirrored; the gores curve with it, and the envelope narrows to a short neck at the bottom. It is drawn in several styles; the classic ones are shaded lighter on one side, so they do not mirror exactly. All are four inches square on 18 mesh, and most can be made as a round ornament. The gores curve, so count one side of the balloon and repeat it in reverse, except in the classic ones; many are marked beginner.
