An Egyptian scarab beetle seen from above and mirrored, in several styles, with a rounded oval body and jointed legs.
A line runs down the middle of the wing cases, a smaller plate sits behind the head, and in most the head is toothed; the legs are six in most, but not in the winged ones. Most also carry a ball or a disk at the head. All are four inches square on 18 mesh, and three can be made round. Work one half and repeat it in reverse, except the shading on the classic one; most are marked beginner.
