A leafy wreath carries four dogwood blossoms: one at the foot, one at the top and one at each side, joined by one stem that is clothed with three pairs of leaves in every quarter, all growing from the foot toward the top. Each blossom has four notched bracts, the broad leaves that look like its petals, in a deeper and a paler pink, worked in satin stitch round a small green satin stitch button with a yellow French knot at its heart. The stem is stem stitch and the leaves are satin stitch in a dark and a light green.

- In a 3 or 4 inch hoop the French knots are drawn smaller than about 2 mm (a little over 1/16 in). Use one strand of floss for them there, or choose a larger hoop.
The pattern is drawn inside a circle about half an inch (1.3 cm) smaller all around than the hoop.
