Needlework scissors in laurel: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 18 KB

A pair of embroidery scissors is shown open inside an open laurel wreath tied with a ribbon bow: its two pointed blades, each two facets of satin stitch that meet on a ridge, cross at a round screw, and its two handles are bands of satin stitch, each running into the point of its pear-shaped bow under two satin stitch collars. The laurel leaves are satin stitch on stems of stem stitch, and the bow is satin stitch with a padded knot.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: short satin stitches, no shading, with a little padded satin stitch; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
