A wishing well, seen from the front, stands on a green ground line with two tulips growing at each side. The roof is five rows of round tiles, rust and gray by turns, under gable boards on two posts; a roller runs through the posts and carries a rope and a bucket. The wall of the well is three courses of round-cornered stones under a rim, and each tulip grows between two leaves. The rope, the handle of the bucket and the tulip stems are stem stitch, and every other part is satin stitch.

| 4 in (10 cm) | 2.4 × 2.2 in | 6.1 × 5.6 cm | 3/16 in (5 mm) |

| 8 in (20 cm) | 5.7 × 5.1 in | 14.5 × 13 cm | 1/2 in (13 mm) |
- In an 8 inch hoop the widest satin stitch shape is 1/2 in (13 mm) across. Satin stitches longer than about 12 mm (just under 1/2 in) tend to work loose: divide the shape into sections, or work it in long and short stitch.
The pattern is drawn inside a circle about half an inch (1.3 cm) smaller all around than the hoop.
