Anemone vine heart: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 18 KB

A heart is made of two leafy branches: they rise from an anemone at the point, swell out, round over the lobes and end in a small bare curl each side of the cleft, with pairs of leaves as far as the curl. The branches are stem stitch and the leaves are satin stitch in a dark and a light green; the anemone has three white petals in long and short stitch over three pale blue-gray ones behind them, round a navy satin stitch center with short straight stitches fanning out from it for stamens. The middle is left open for a name, a date or a pair of initials.

To frame the piece in its hoop, cut a square 3 inches (8 cm) wider than the hoop: a 9 inch (23 cm) square for a 6 inch hoop.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
