Daisy kite with a bow: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 10 KB

A diamond kite is seen face on with a bow at its foot. The edge of the kite is one teal band all the way around. Two navy spars run from corner to corner, one upright and one across, and where they meet sits a daisy of eight gold petals around a red center. At the foot of the kite the red bow of the tail has loops to each side of its knot and two long tails that hang down and out. The spars are back stitch; the edge of the kite, the daisy petals, the daisy center and the bow of the tail with its loops, knot and tails are satin stitch.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: short satin stitches, no shading; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

  • In an 8 inch hoop the widest satin stitch shape is 1/2 in (13 mm) across. Satin stitches longer than about 12 mm (just under 1/2 in) tend to work loose: divide the shape into sections, or work it in long and short stitch.

The pattern is drawn inside a circle about half an inch (1.3 cm) smaller all around than the hoop.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
