Cupcake with one candle: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 9 KB

A cupcake with one candle is seen from the front. The candle stands at the top, outlined in purple stem stitch with purple satin stitch stripes, and above it are a purple stem stitch wick and a gold satin stitch flame. The icing outline is pink stem stitch: the icing lies over the cake and runs down in three drips, the longest in the middle, with half a drip at each side. The cake under the icing is a line of tan stem stitch. The paper case outline is teal stem stitch with a fluted rim, and the pleats of the case are teal back stitch.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: stem stitch and back stitch, with some short satin stitches; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
