Unicorn horn and flower crown: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 12 KB

A unicorn is shown from the front by its horn and ears above a crown of flowers. The horn has seven bands, gold and yellow by turns from a gold tip, each band two halves laid on the slant. At each side an ear is outlined in purple with a light pink inner ear. Below, five flowers sit on one curve: a middle flower with dark pink petals and, at each side of it, two side flowers with purple petals, all with gold centers. Green leaves lie between the flowers and in pairs at each end. The ears are stem stitch, the leaves are fishbone stitch, and the horn, the inner ears and the flowers are satin stitch.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: short satin stitches, no shading; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
