Storybook castle with pennants: preview of the stitched design

Download free PDFPDF, US Letter · 12 KB

This castle is seen from the front: a tall tower with the gate stands between two towers that fly pennants, joined to them by two walls with battlements. The stone is one line of stem stitch with a row of corbels under each cap; the caps are bands of satin stitch, dark pink and light pink by turns, and the gate, the five windows, the pennants and the gold star on top of the tall tower are satin stitch. The castle stands on a solid band of green ground in satin stitch.

Size and details

Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: short satin stitches, no shading; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.

Getting it onto your fabric

The PDF holds the pattern twice at actual size: once as drawn, and once mirrored for an iron-on transfer pen. Print it at 100% with scaling off and check the one-inch square (25.4 mm) with a ruler before you trace. How to transfer a pattern explains tracing, carbon paper and the other ways.
