A pocket with a pointed foot carries a heart inside a laurel. The pocket edge and the pocket hem, a line across near the top, are navy stem stitch, and the pocket stitching is a line of navy back stitch inside the edge. Two dark green stem stitch stems curve up from a blossom at the foot, with satin stitch leaves, each half dark green and half light green. The blossom has five pink satin stitch blossom petals around a gold French knot blossom center. Between the stems is a heart outline in red stem stitch with a small red satin stitch heart inside it.
Size and details
Easy. In a hoop of 6 inches or less: stem stitch, back stitch and French knots, with some short satin stitches; in a larger hoop the widest satin stitches are long.
6 colors of floss and 4 kinds of stitch:
| Hoop | Inches | Centimeters | Satin stitch up to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 in (8 cm) | 1.3 × 1.4 in | 3.3 × 3.6 cm | 1/8 in (3 mm) |
| 4 in (10 cm) | 1.9 × 2.1 in | 4.8 × 5.3 cm | 3/16 in (5 mm) |
| 5 in (13 cm) | 2.5 × 2.8 in | 6.4 × 7.1 cm | 1/4 in (6 mm) |
| 6 in (15 cm) | 3.2 × 3.5 in | 8.1 × 8.9 cm | 1/4 in (6 mm) |
| 8 in (20 cm) | 4.4 × 4.9 in | 11.2 × 12.4 cm | 3/8 in (10 mm) |
- In a 3 inch hoop the French knot is drawn smaller than about 2 mm (a little over 1/16 in). Use one strand of floss for it there, or choose a larger hoop.
The pattern is drawn inside a circle about half an inch (1.3 cm) smaller all around than the hoop.
