About this pattern

A sitting hen seen from the side, made of patchwork: five-stitch squares of blue, pink, sage green, gold and white laid like a quilt and cut only by the hen's outline. She faces right, with a red comb, a small gold beak, a red wattle and a dark eye in a white square of the face, an upright tail at the back and a flat base with no legs, like a stuffed doorstop hen. Dark brown outline. Some squares are white, so a fabric darker than white shows them best. Full crosses only. It is 42 by 35 stitches and uses seven thread colors.
