Count is the number of squares per inch. Higher count makes the same design smaller; the stitches and thread colors stay the same. Sizes shown are the stitched area; allow extra fabric for finishing.

About this pattern

A bat seen from the front with its wings spread, left as bare fabric inside a solid blue panel, in the manner of Assisi work. A black line one stitch wide runs round the bat and closes the panel on all four sides. The bat has two pointed ears, two small dark eyes, a small body and wings that slope down to pointed tips, each cut underneath into two scallops. The left side mirrors the right exactly. Only the blue ground and the black line are stitched: the bat is the color of the cloth, so use white or ivory fabric. Full crosses only. It is 48 by 28 stitches and uses two thread colors.

48 stitches wide by 28 high: 988 full cross stitches in 2 DMC colors (Very Dark Baby Blue 312, Black 310).
