About this pattern

One knitted winter mitten, pale blue with the fingers up, a thumb on the right and a ribbed cuff striped white and darker blue, and worked into it a red cardinal on a bare twig with snow falling all round him. The cardinal faces left, with a pointed crest, a black mask round an orange beak, a darker red wing and tail and two orange feet on the twig; the snow is single white stitches scattered over the blue. A piece for a mitten-shaped ornament, a card front or a small frame. Dark brown outline. Full crosses only. It is 39 by 48 stitches and uses eight thread colors.
